What Cueflow does with your data, in plain words. The one-line version: your video never leaves your phone.
Last updated Draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer
The short version
Recording, transcription and rendering happen on your iPhone. Your video never leaves your phone. Only text is sent when you use an AI feature.
- Your video and audio never leave your phone. We have no copy. We could not watch it if we wanted to.
- Only words leave. When you tap an AI feature, we send the transcript of your take (the text plus the time each word was said), the text you typed for that feature, and your plan. Never the video or the audio.
- No ads, no tracking, no selling. We do not sell your data, show ads, or let advertisers follow you. The website uses no cookies.
Who we are
Cueflow is the iPhone app and the website at get-cueflow.com. This policy covers both. It is written by Cueflow, operated by Nave Bergsma, Postal address available on request via support@get-cueflow.com, which is the “controller” of your data in the legal sense: the one responsible for it.
Questions about this policy go to support@get-cueflow.com.
What happens on your phone
Almost everything Cueflow does happens on your iPhone, using the phone’s own chips and Apple’s on-device speech models. This is the list.
- Recording
- The camera and microphone record your take into a file in the app's own storage on your phone.
- Transcription
- Your speech is turned into text with word timings by the speech recognition built into your iPhone. Cueflow keeps it on the device wherever iOS supports your language, and never sends audio to us.
- Editing
- Pause trimming, filler removal, picking the best take, caption timing and zoom punch-ins are worked out on the phone from those word timings.
- Rendering and export
- The finished video, with captions and cuts, is rendered on the phone and saved to your Photos or shared where you choose.
- Imported video
- A video you bring in from Photos, Files or the share sheet is copied into the app on your phone and transcribed there. The file itself is never uploaded.
- Brand kit
- Your fonts, colours and logo are stored in the app on your phone.
The app asks for camera, microphone, speech recognition and photo library access at the moment each is needed, with a one-line reason. You can change any of them later in iOS Settings.
What leaves your phone, and when
Data leaves your phone only when you tap an AI feature. These are the AI features: AI edits (from a template or typed), script remix, brief to script, and the talking-point check. All of them are on the Pro and Studio plans.
When you tap one, this is what we send to our servers:
- The transcript of your take: the words and the time each word was said. For an edit plan we also send the current cut (which parts are in, which are out).
- The text you typed for that feature: your instruction (“cut everything before the hook”), your brand brief, or the product name, offer and tone for a remix.
- Your account identifier and plan, so we can check you are allowed to use the feature and count the AI-minutes.
We never send video or audio. Not for AI features, not for support, not for anything.
Our servers run on Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). They check your plan, pass the transcript and your instruction to an AI model provider (currently Anthropic’s Claude API) to produce the result, and send the result back to your phone. We do not use your transcripts to train AI models and we do not allow our providers to do so.
After the result is returned we keep only a count of the seconds of footage processed, which month it was, and which account it belongs to. That count is your AI-minutes usage, shown in Settings. We do not keep a copy of the transcript.
Your account
You can use the teleprompter, record, caption and export without an account. Cueflow creates an account for you the first time you use a feature that needs our servers, and you sign in with Apple when you subscribe.
Sign in with Apple is the only way to sign in. Your account holds:
- An identifier from Apple that tells us it is you. It is a code, not your Apple ID or password.
- Your email address, only if you choose to share it. If you pick Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we get a relay address that forwards to you and never see your real one.
- Your plan (Free, Creator, Pro or Studio) and, on Pro and Studio, your AI-minutes used this month.
On a Studio plan each seat is its own account, and each is handled the same way.
Subscriptions and payment
Subscriptions are bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple takes the payment. We never see your card number, bank details or billing address. Apple’s own privacy policy covers that part.
We use RevenueCat to know which plan you are on. RevenueCat receives the purchase record from Apple and an anonymous app user id from us, and tells our servers which plan to unlock. It does not get your video, your transcripts or your email.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist on this website we store your email address, the page you signed up from, and the time. We use it for one thing: one email on launch day. No newsletter.
The list lives in our database on Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). It is not shared with anyone. To be removed, reply to any email we send or write to support@get-cueflow.com.
This website
get-cueflow.com uses Plausible for visitor statistics. Plausible is cookieless: it sets no cookies, does not store your IP address, and does not build a profile of you or follow you to other sites. It tells us things like how many people visited and which pages they read, in aggregate.
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like every web host, Vercel keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for a short time to keep the site running and secure.
The website sets no cookies.
How long we keep things
- On your phone
- Recordings, transcripts, projects and exports stay on your phone until you delete them or delete the app. They are yours; we never had them.
- AI requests
- The transcript and your instruction are processed and returned. We do not keep a copy afterwards. The seconds-processed count is kept for the current month and the previous twelve, so your usage history stays correct.
- Account
- Kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, everything tied to it is gone from our systems within 30 days.
- Waitlist
- Kept until the launch email has been sent, then deleted within 90 days, or sooner if you ask.
- Server logs
- Kept for a short period by our hosting providers for security and debugging, then deleted.
Deleting your data
- Videos and projects: delete them in the app, or delete the app. That removes everything stored on your phone.
- Your account: open Settings in the app and tap Delete account. That removes your identifier, email, plan record and usage counts from our servers. Your subscription is managed by Apple, so cancel it in your App Store settings too.
- Waitlist: email support@get-cueflow.com and we will remove you.
You can also email support@get-cueflow.com for any of these and we will do it for you, usually within a few days and always within 30.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask for a copy you can take elsewhere. Email support@get-cueflow.com. We may ask you to confirm it is really you before we act.
If you are in the EU, the UK or another place with a GDPR-style law, you also have the right to limit or object to how we use your data, and to withdraw consent where consent is what we rely on. If you think we have got something wrong, you can complain to your local data protection authority. We would rather hear from you first.
If you are in California, you have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for asking. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Our legal grounds, in plain words: we process your data because you asked us to (the app features you use), because we have a contract with you (your subscription), or because we have a legitimate reason that does not override yours (keeping the service secure and working).
Children
Cueflow is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, email support@get-cueflow.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects what we collect or how we use it, we will also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
